Should people be allowed to burn the Quran, or any other religious text?

Some would argue that it's hate speech. I disagree. It is a legetimate form of expression. Free speech is free speech. Period. Besides, if people can burn our flag, then everything else is fair game.

  • BTW, how much you wanna bet the people who disagree are the very same people who would have no problem with burning the Bible?

I think that destruction of any object should be viewed from solely two perspectives: 1. who owned that object, and 2. how its destruction affected the surrounding individuals and properties.

If burning Quran did not endanger anyone standing nearby and did not set any property on fire, and if the Quran legally belonged to the individual who burned it, or its owner gave their consent on the Quran being burned - then I do not see why such an act should be illegal.

  • If the American flag can be burned as being a form of "Free Speech" then the Bible and Quran can be burned too.
